Our goal is simple: Help you generate business down the street and across state lines.
WHAT IS UNDERWRITING?
As a public radio station, we don’t carry conventional advertisements. Instead, we offer sponsorship opportunities in the form of underwriting. Underwriting consists of brief radio announcements, or “spots,” that inform our listeners about what products, services or events your business or organization offers.
The objective, unbiased approach of underwriting strips away the clutter and loaded language of other advertising – making it easier for listeners to distinguish and trust what you are offering them. In fact, 83% of NPR news listeners have taken action specifically because of a sponsorship announcement. Our listeners respect and trust this approach and appreciate businesses that share the same values of transparency.

Underwriting support on WAMC stations provides you with the opportunity to reach more than 545,000 monthly listeners that can’t be reached through commercial media outlets. Our listeners are affluent, highly educated, leaders in their communities, decision makers in their professions and have a disposable income. We want to help you connect with this targeted demographic by working with you on crafting a campaign that will meet your needs. We take the time to review programming, schedules, costs and any supplement opportunities that may help strengthen your message, such as digital content. We recognize that our listeners don’t just tune into the radio anymore, and can be reached through digital platforms – that’s why we’ll help integrate digital concepts like pre-roll live streaming, podcast sponsorships and web ads into your campaign. This way you’re reaching our listeners on all multiple levels.
HERE IS WHAT OUR UNDERWRITERS HAVE TO SAY ABOUT WAMC.
“WAMC has been very beneficial in introducing The Gift Garden to a unique type of media. For the past two years The Gift Garden has underwritten at WAMC. We have had positive feedback from our regular customers, and we have gained many new customers from all over WAMC’s listening area.”

“Poughkeepsie Day School is proud to be a sponsor of such flagship shows as Morning Edition and All Things Considered. We believe that the values of public radio: its commitment to integrity and truth, along with joy and a love of learning, are the same values that Poughkeepsie Day School has lived by for the last 84 years. Please join me and Poughkeepsie Day School in supporting WAMC, and its concerted efforts to foster intellectual discourse in the Hudson Valley.``

“We are WAMC underwriters because WAMC provides outstanding comprehensive environmental news coverage. WAMC gives listeners the information we need to make decisions about the water we drink, the air we breathe, and the wild pleases we all enjoy. Stay informed and engaged: support WAMC.”

“WAMC listeners are the perfect demographic for us because they tend to be sophisticated, discerning and knowledgeable. The response we get to our underwriting support, including our digital ads, is always good. Since underwriting WAMC has proved to be such an excellent value to us for dollars spent, and our underwriting also supports public broadcasting, it is a big win-win for us.”
