WHAT IS UNDERWRITING?
As a public radio station, we don’t carry conventional advertisements. Instead, we offer sponsorship opportunities in the form of underwriting. Underwriting consists of brief radio announcements, or “spots,” that inform our listeners about what products, services or events your business or organization offers.
The objective, unbiased approach of underwriting strips away the clutter and loaded language of other advertising – making it easier for listeners to distinguish and trust what you are offering them. In fact, 83% of NPR news listeners have taken action specifically because of a sponsorship announcement. Our listeners respect and trust this approach and appreciate businesses that share the same values of transparency.

Underwriting support on WAMC stations provides you with the opportunity to reach more than 545,000 monthly listeners that can’t be reached through commercial media outlets.
